DESCRIPTION:Join us at our General Meeting  on March 14th to hear  Nelson Coates speak on on “The Impact of Plants and Gardens on Film”. \nNelson Coates is an American Production Designer for feature film and television as well as a Laguna Beach resident. His motion picture credits include the Lin-Manuel Miranda musical “In the Heights” and feature films “Crazy Rich Asians”\, “Fifty Shades Darker” and he just completed designing Season 4 of “The Morning Show” with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston\, for AppleTV+. \nNelson is one of the top production designers working in cinema today. Coates earned an Emmy nomination for designing the miniseries Stephen King’s “The Stand” based on King’s bestseller. His design work has been featured multiple times in such publications as Architectural Digest\, Elle Décor\, Harper’s Bazaar\, The New York Times\, Los Angeles Times and has been featured in exhibition at the Biennale Milano. Between movie projects\, Nelson designs real world projects as\narchitect/interior designer for unique residential &amp; commercial projects. Nelson’s philanthropic work includes fund-raising\, consulting\, event organizing for numerous organizations including the Pacific Marine Mammal Center\, Laguna Art Museum and many more. \nNelson will be speaking about how he effectively uses plants and gardens in award winning film and television shows to create the mood and ambiance needed for each film. We are honored and excited to have this local legend speak at our club meeting. \nJoin us from 9:30-10:00 a.m. for social time and refreshments\, the meeting begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. Meetings are held at Laguna Presbyterian Church in Tankersley Hall located at 415 Forest Avenue\, Laguna Beach\, Ca.
