SUMMARY:Meeting & Speaker: Tom Betts Aranda
DESCRIPTION:Horticulturalist and landscape designer Tom Betts Aranda will be our Laguna Beach Garden Club guest speaker on Friday\, October 8th.  The title of his presentation will be:  “Incorporating California Natives into Your Garden“. He will show how it is possible to have year-round color with minimal water and attention using plants suitable for our climate. \nTom grew up in New England before moving to Southern California at 22 years of age and has been gardening since he can remember. He began designing gardens all the while he was heavily involved with his passion for training and riding horses. While working as a dressage instructor\, he enhanced his education in landscape design by attending classes locally to better develop his knowledge and understanding of how to incorporate native plants into private gardens. He recently started his company called Nativo Landscape Design. He has since been active in designing native plant landscapes for homes in the La Jolla and South Orange County areas\, including his own small-scale patio gardens that provide sustenance for the local pollinator populations. \nTom’s Personal Philosophy: Whether large or small\, a garden can be a sanctuary for people as well as for local wildlife. I like to help homeowners find just the right plants for their environment that enhances their total well-being. \n  \n  \nUntil further notice we will be observing the following COVID-19 mitigation measures:  Masks will be required inside Tankersley Hall and seating will be socially distanced. Refreshment goodies will be individually wrapped to be eaten outside or enjoyed at home. Please bring any liquid beverages from home and plan on enjoying them outside. SUMMARY:Meeting & Speaker: Jan Bills
DESCRIPTION:Gardens should be our love\, not our labor of love! So says Jan Bills\, our Oct. 11th speaker\, who is the author of Late Bloomer\, a certified landscape designer\, advanced master gardener and entrepreneur. Join us as Jan presents\, Comfort\, Ease and Simplicity in the Garden. Discover how sustainable gardening encompasses a variety of practices that respond to environmental concerns. These practices are used in every stage of gardening from design to planting to maintenance.  “Together\, we will develop a shift in perspective” she says\, as we explore how to garden simply. \nAfter a successful career in the corporate world\, Jan made a major life reassessment and followed her heart: she traded in her heels for Wellies and started the Detroit-area landscape design company Two Women and a Hoe®. \nQuestions? We’d love to hear from you!\n\n \n PhoneThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n PhoneMessage*13+6=?*CAPTCHA
