Happy February & Happy Valentine’s Day!
Dear Members,
My wonderful husband Bob has taken me out to dinner every Valentine’s Day since we started dating in 1982. For many years the day came with an amazing bouquet of gorgeous flowers. Since retirement and my interest in gardening, Valentine’s now includes a trip to the nursery and the gift of a special plant or pot or both!!
Very soon, it will be the time of year when our Board will be filling vacancies. Four or five years ago Lynn Jax spoke about openings on the board and asked interested members to speak with her. I was new to the club and wanted to be more involved. Lynn and I had lunch and obviously, I became a member of our Board.
Now, several fellow Board members are close friends. We share the common goal of wanting to do that which is best for our club. Yes, we work hard, but we play hard too. Most importantly for me, I enjoy the time and effort of the Board because the Laguna Beach Garden Club is a wonderful club, full of talented people. People who share their talents, gifts, wisdom and time freely and generously. So please, when Nancy Englund or I ask you to consider volunteering for the board, please consider it sincerely and reach out to one of us for a serious conversation. We’ll even buy you lunch as Lynn did for me all those years ago.
My very first meeting as a guest was the February 2016 meeting. It was fun and I joined the same day. I’m excited to see the containers and plants many of you are bringing and equally excited to share the ones I am planning to bring. Happy planting and I’ll see you soon.
