Join us at our General Meeting on May 9th to hear Christopher Regan, Assistant General Manager at the Laguna Beach County Water District, speak about the history of water usage in Laguna Beach as the Water District celebrates its 100 year anniversary.
Christopher Regan has led an impressive 32-year career as a leader and innovator working in the water industry. For the past 19 years, he has served as the Assistant General Manager at the Laguna Beach County Water District, overseeing public affairs, marketing, public relations, water use efficiency efforts, water education and information technology.
Christopher will guide his audience on a historical journey from 1925 to the present, illustrating how the development of water infrastructure transformed a quiet beach village into the vibrant town we know today. He will discuss the era of homesteading along the untamed coast and the pursuit of water by the town’s founders. In 1929, the construction of the “Jewel of Downtown,” the current Water District Building, marked significant progress toward regional water security. This building was more than just an office; it symbolized advancement and played a crucial role in establishing Laguna’s permanent water system.
Come join members of the garden club to hear Christopher weave the story of how this town developed through the eyes of the water district. His talk will delve into the transformative impact of water infrastructure on Laguna Beach’s growth and prosperity, highlighting key milestones and the visionary efforts of past and present leaders.
