Annual Scholarship Awards
Thanks to proceeds from the club’s Gate & Garden Tour and the generous contributions of sponsors, the club has awarded scholarships to local high school and college students each year for over a decade. Laguna Beach Garden Club presented $15,000 worth of scholarships to local students in 2024!
2024 Laguna Beach High School Winners

Laguna Beach Garden Club is honored to award scholarships of $2000 each to three graduating seniors of Laguna Beach High School. Our club funds a scholarship through the Laguna Beach High School Scholarship Foundation supporting students that plan to pursue careers in Environmental Sciences.
2024 Saddleback Community College Winners
This year, three deserving Saddleback College horticulture students were granted $3,000 each to assist them in the pursuit of degrees.
Stephanie Alvarado
Stephanie Avarado is pursuing a certificate in Sustainable Landscape Design. She is also studying architecture and graphic design. A former floral designer, she is sharpening her her skills in color theory and mixed media art to effectively present sustainable and energy efficient planting designs.
Dana Spencer
Dana Spencer is also studying Sustainable Landscape Design and is working towards a contractor’s license. She is pursuing a career that combines her interest in plants, sustainability, and nature while learning how to design and implement beautiful, sustainable, and useful outdoor spaces.
Christine Villa
Christine Villa will transfer to Cal Poly Pomona to obtain her BA in Plant Science and minor in Urban & Community Agriculture.
Laguna Beach Garden Club is proud to bestow scholarships to these well-deserving individuals who definitely meet our mission of advancing gardening, horticulture, ecology and conservation through education. Donations to LBGC and as well our fundraisers support the Club’s community projects, such as three school gardens, various gardens throughout the city in Heisler Park and downtown, and coming soon a bottle-filling station in the gardens of the Laguna Beach County Water District.

Eligibility Requirements
College-bound Laguna Beach High School seniors interested in the environment, conservation, horticulture and related fields.
Saddleback Community College students who take classes in the Horticulture Department.
Selection Criteria
The garden club awards scholarships to students who demonstrate interest in, or who study, horticulture, landscape design, plant science, ecology, environmental science, conservation and similar fields. Students are required to submit an essay by March 1 outlining their future plans and their experience or interest in any of these or related fields.
Application Process
Students should apply for a scholarship directly with the local scholarship coordinators in their schools.
