Sowing and Growing Together
We are honored to extend a warm welcome to each of you, as we commence the new Garden Club year! It is with great pleasure to announce Nancy Englund and Mary Sanchez as the first co-presidents. We’re excited for the year ahead and the opportunities it will bring. A heartfelt thank you to Jane Leary, our most recent president, for all her hard work over the last year! She was the busiest bee in our garden! Her gardening shoes will be hard to fill.
Our president’s theme for this year is “Sowing Seeds of Wonder through a Community of Gardeners.” Our hope is to share our love for gardening with the community through volunteering and interacting with the public and each other to inspire a wonder and new or renewed interest and fascination.
You already know much about Nancy since she has been an integral part of the club since she joined in 2003. Let me tell you a little bit about myself! My husband of 55 years, Nacho and I have two sons, two daughters, and six grandchildren and live in Lake Forest. I am also grateful to have a pug, named Pearl, whose favorite activity is snoring.
In my spare time, I love working and relaxing in my garden and my She-Shed! I am also vegetarian, so my newest purchase is a raised garden and planter to grow my own food! I plan on planting different kinds of vegetables. I will let you know how that goes! I also love antique shopping, furniture repurposing, and painting anything I can. I keep myself busy!
I joined the garden club in 2016. Time flies when you’re having fun. It feels like yesterday. I really enjoy participating in our activities and giving back to the community. I am very thankful for the friendships I have made as well.
As we embark on this new season, we anticipate a year filled with camaraderie, learning, and shared experiences.
We look forward to a fun year ahead sowing seeds of wonder!
P.S. We will continue collecting egg cartons to give to Laguna Food Pantry, so bring all those empty egg cartons (plastic is accepted as well). Just be sure to stack them and that they have lids.
