President’s Message, December 2024
As the days grow shorter and the crisp cool air signals me to take out my cozy sweaters, I am reminded to take a deep breath and appreciate the beauty around me and the joy ahead with family and friends.
As the days grow shorter and the crisp cool air signals me to take out my cozy sweaters, I am reminded to take a deep breath and appreciate the beauty around me and the joy ahead with family and friends.
Fall is my favorite season of the year. I enjoy the changing colors of leaves, cooler weather, warm cozy clothes, prepping my garden for the nourishing winter rains, and looking forward to family gatherings. Fall reminds me of gratitude for health, family, and sharing our gifts.
Last month, I shared a little about my family and garden. This month I want to share the progress I have made in my garden. My new raised garden bed is full of new sprouts! I enjoy planting things that easily add a special ingredient to my everyday dishes and drinks.
We are honored to extend a warm welcome to each of you, as we commence the new Garden Club year! It is with great pleasure to announce Nancy Englund and Mary Sanchez as the first co-presidents. We’re excited for the year ahead and the opportunities it will bring.
It has been my great honor to serve as your President this 2023-2024 Club year. I could not be more delighted with what we’ve accomplished together. You will not find a more hard-working Board, committed to Cultivating Delight through Gardening and Community Service than this one.
So many new delights to behold as we move into springtime! The days are longer, the hillsides are greener, the flowers are more abundant and the birds are returning. I hope you all are finding something delightful every day.
So many delightful things have happened with our Club this past month it’s hard to pick just one! So I’ve picked two: The Good of the Hive® Mural Kickoff and Glenwood House.
It’s hard to believe the first month of 2024 has come to a close. What has delighted you so far in 2024? For me it’s the hummingbird’s nest right outside my husband Greg’s and my bedroom window. And seeing the joy on the children’s faces when Dee Perry, Regina Hartley and I read “Give Bees a Chance” by Bethany Barton at the Laguna Beach Art Museum’s story time on Saturday, Jan 27 as part of our The Good of the Hive® mural engagement.
As 2023 comes to an end, I cannot help but reflect on how grateful and delighted I am with the support, encouragement and kindness you’ve shown me in my first 6 months as President. I knew it would be a lot of work but did not realize how rewarding it would be and how much I’d feel part of something so much bigger than myself. Our HIVE is vibrant, growing and filled with delightful members like you! YOU are what keeps me going each day and I thank you!
At this time of year when we focus on the Holidays, I’ve been reflecting on what I’m grateful for. Certainly, one thing is you, the members of the Laguna Beach Garden Club!
